M-Net: Nora had a special place in our viewers' living rooms - and hearts

Cape Town - South African actress Christine Basson has died

The former Egoli actress was living at a retirement village in Randburg at the time of her death and had recently turned 78.  

According to the statement, M-Net was "saddened to hear about the passing of one of the most talented and beloved actresses the country has ever seen."

"Christine Basson contributed immensely to the success of South Africa's first daily soap Egoli, in the iconic role of Nora Naude, and had a special place in our viewers' living rooms - and more importantly, hearts - for many years. "

The pay television channel described Christine as a "passionate and dedicated legend," adding: "We will always love you."
