Johannesburg - Local actor and comedian Moshe Ndiki is doing everything he can to send students from disadvantaged backgrounds to school.

Last year the 26-year-old television personality tweeted that he’d like to help just one student with their tuition or registration fees in the new year.

But after receiving responses from many students, Moshe’s big heart couldn’t say no. So, he started saving some money from each gig he did and raised enough funds to pay three students’ registration fees and help with one student’s tuition fees.

Moshe shared his joy for the students on social media and his followers couldn’t help but shed a few tears, and tell him how proud they are of him and his #Makufundwe project.

The TV star believes God works through us, and he’s just a vessel.

Speaking to DRUM, Moshe said he’s passionate about young people who want to study but have no means, and he’s always wanted to help.

“I didn’t even think too hard about it. I just knew that I wanted to help one student – but more came, so I saved a bit more and took some money from my savings as well,” he says.

“You know, it never made sense to me that certain students can’t get funding because of their marks. What about the students who worked really hard and got 50%? They also deserve to go to school. And for me, I don’t really care what you want to study or are studying, as long as you go to school I’ll try helping where I can.”

One of the students Moshe helped tweeted an emotional message, saying because of Moshe’s kindness education was no longer just a dream but a reality.

Moshe says he didn’t really know how much was required or how much he needed to save “because it’s been forever since I was in school”, he laughs. So, he just saved as much as he could. And, in future, he hopes to be able to help more students.
