Everyone loves birthdays because it's the one day where people gift you with some of the things you've been eyeing for a while.
But for his birthday on 20 February, though, international comedian Trevor Noah chose to be the blessing.
He handpicked five teachers as the lucky winners of brand-new tablets – and not just any tablet, the Microsoft Surface Pro that’s worth almost R30 000!
Taking to Instagram to share the awesome news, Trevor wrote:
"I’ve picked 5 teachers and will post the winners in my story! Thank you to everyone who took the time to tag some extraordinary people! Does your teacher need a new tablet or is their laptop super old? Well for my birthday I’ve got 5 Microsoft Surface Pros to give away. No strings. no ad. no nothing. I just have them and I like giving things to teachers. Tag your teacher in the comments and I’ll pick 5 people randomly [sic]," he wrote.
This is not the first charitable thing The Daily Show host has done, in fact, Trevor is passionate about helping those in need, especially in education. In 2018, the comedian launched the Trevor Noah Foundation, a non-profit organisation that equips orphans and vulnerable youth with the education, life skills and social capital necessary to pursue further opportunities after graduating from high school or matriculating.
"Figuring out how to bridge the gap between educational institutions and the funding that we feel that they deserve. Figuring out how to bridge the gap between the education that learners get at the jobs that we feel that they deserve. Because all of these are pieces that need to work together, in order for us to move forward," he said at the launch event.
And just last month, Trevor partnered with tennis ace Rafael Nadal to take on billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Grand Slam champ Roger Federer at Federer’s annual charity tennis tournament that took place Cape Town.
We can't help but be inspired by the funny man with a big heart!
