"I don't know how this happened, but I think I've become friends with Bill Gates," Trevor Noah joked when he sat down for a chat with US comedian Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show.
We first got a glimpse of Trevor's interview when Ellen shared a snippet on her Instagram page on Monday. In that clip, Trevor talks about how he learned to play tennis just two months ahead of the Match in Africa event.
Since then, we have been waiting for the full interview, and it is finally here!
The extended clip, posted on Ellen's official Facebook page for her show, starts with the two chatting about their Grammy nominations.
Both Ellen and Trevor were nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 2020 Grammys. Dave Chappelle ended up taking the award home.
Moving on to his involvement in Match in Africa, Trevor spoke about how Bill Gates invited him to play in the charity event.
"I don't know how this happened, but I think I've become friends with Bill Gates. I've just met him many times, and we've had conversations. And then one day he phoned, and he was like, 'Hey, do you want to play tennis with me?'. I was like, 'Yes'. And he was like, 'In Cape Town'. I said, 'That's a long way to go to play tennis, but yes'. And he said, 'With Roger Federer'."
The audience laughed along as Trevor explained the difficulties he went through training for the match.
