Mutale Mwanza is a producer, voice artist, and entrepreneur so her life is a juggling act but so far it is going well for her.

Balancing these dissimilar roles in my career can be challenging, but I have found it to be a fulfilling experience. While each role requires time and dedication, I have implemented strategies that have helped me achieve my goals.”

Mutale has to manage her time efficiently, set clear priorities, and have a well-coordinated schedule to ensure that she gives each role the attention it deserves.

“Networking has also been key in helping me stay on top of my game. Through my interactions with other industry entrepreneurs, producers, and artists, I have gained valuable insights and knowledge that have helped me in my various roles," the talent from Kitwe, Zambia, says.

Mutale both produces and stars in her own reality show, which is difficult but enjoyable at the same time.

“As a producer, I am responsible for the show's production, and budget, and ensuring that the show's creative vision is maintained throughout. As a star, I get to showcase my personality and experiences, which can be both exhilarating and nerve-racking.

To manage both responsibilities effectively, I ensure that I clearly understand the show's creative direction and my role in it. I have found it helpful to collaborate with other creatives in the production process, as it not only helps lighten the load but also brings fresh perspectives and ideas to the table.”

Flying the flag for her country is of the utmost importance and in doing so she has become the first Zambian person to have a show as widely consumed on DStv as her Mutale Mwanza: Unscripted.

“Representing Zambia on various platforms is a responsibility that I take seriously. It is an opportunity to display the beauty and diversity of my country's culture, talent, and stories. To ensure an authentic representation, I take the time to research and understand the subject matter, collaborate with locals, and include different perspectives and voices in my work.”

She views this as a responsibility to highlight the positive aspects of her country and address the challenges they face like poverty, disease, and inequality.

“By doing so, I hope to create awareness and spark conversations that lead to positive change.”

Her dalliance with the camera lens started when Mutale was a broadcast journalist.

“My career in broadcast journalism was driven by my passion for storytelling and my desire to shed light on issues that affect people's lives. It was a platform for me to use my voice to make a difference and connect with audiences.

“One memorable experience I had was covering the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. It was an opportunity to highlight Africa's rich culture, hospitality, and football talent to the world. I was humbled to be part of a team that brought the tournament to millions of viewers worldwide.”

Mutale Mwanza
Mutale Mwanza is regarded as the Queen of Media in Zambia which she takes very seriously.

While she has since transitioned from journalism to other career paths, Mutale remains open to returning to the field in the future.

“I believe that journalism plays a critical role in informing and shaping public opinion, and I hope to have a chance to contribute to that again someday.”

A lesser known fact about this multi-hyphenate is that she is a polyglot and speaks six languages fluently, including English, French, and four traditional Zambian languages.

"I'm also proud to have founded the Mutale Mwanza Foundation, which provides financial and educational support to young girls in Zambia. Additionally, I've been recognized by Forbes as one of the most influential businesswomen in Africa."

Her heart is set on empowering and giving back with the fame she has garnered almost being a secondary aspect of her work which will intesify over the remainder of the year.

"I'm excited to be launching a new media platform that will focus on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Zambia and across Africa. I also hope to continue expanding the reach of my current media ventures, including my radio and TV programs.

The title of 'Queen of Media' in Zambia is one that I hold with great pride. To me, it represents the hard work and dedication that I've put into my career over the years. My hope is that my success can inspire other young women in Zambia and across Africa to pursue their dreams and make a difference in their communities."
