  • Kate Middleton is sharing an inspiring message with fellow tennis fans.
  • Wimbledon would've kicked off this week, but has sadly been cancelled amid the pandemic.
  • She says in a video shared on Wimbledon's Twitter account: "When the time is right, and we open the gates, we will be back again, and it will have been worth the wait."

Kate Middleton has lent her voice to share an uplifting message with tennis fans.

The duchess, who's been spotted many a time at Wimbledon and presented Novak Djokovic with the trophy when he defeated Roger Federer at the Gentlemen's Singles Final last year, says in a short film for the tennis tournament: "350 days, 14 hours and 12 minutes between the last ball hit and when the next is meant to be. Over the years, your support has shaped this historic event. No matter the time of day or the names on the scoreboard, you have always been there, come rain or shine."

She adds, "This year, sadly though, things are very different."

The tournament, which would have kicked off on 29 June, has been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Kate continued in the video though, with an uplifting message to fans: "We will bide our time until we sit on the edge of our seats again and celebrate again. So, when the time is right, and we open the gates, we will be back again, and it will have been worth the wait."

Kate isn't the first royal to share how much she's missing her favourite sport. Her video comes shortly after Prince Harry recorded a video message from home for England Rugby.

"This pandemic might have paused the game, but it hasn't taken away our spirit," he shared in the short clip shared on social media.
