SABC 2 in a statement to the media on Thursday announced that the beloved TV classic Touched by an Angel will be aired again.

According to the statement, reruns of the show starring Roma Downey (Monica), Della Reese (Tess), and John Dye (Andrew) will start on Monday, 29 June at 14:00 on SABC 2 (DStv 192).

The show, which will air Monday to Friday, follows angels Monica, Tess, and Andrew as they come into people's lives to provide inspiration when circumstances bring them to crossroads.

In the debut episode, the angel Monica is excited about being promoted to the job of caseworker, a notch up from search and rescue missions, which finally gives her the chance to be seen by humans. Her first assignment is to stay close to David (guest star T.J. Lowther), a 10-year-old who initially appears to be a runaway, riding alone on a bus in the desert and pilfering tips from a pit stop waitress.

Actress Della Reese died on 19 November 2017 at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 86. Actor John Dye, 47, whose character was known as the "Angel of Death" was found dead in his home in San Francisco on 10 January 2011. His family reported that he died due to heart problems.
