'Tiger King' reigns on Netflix with 64 million viewers

The docu-series Tiger King has clawed its way to the top of Netflix's viewing charts.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness had an impressive combined audience of 64 million worldwide in its first month on the streaming platform.

The 7-part series which follows eccentric roadside zoo owner Joseph Maldonado-Passage, known as Joe Exotic, premiered on the service on 20 March.

On 12 April an aftershow episode titled The Tiger King and I hosted by comedian Joel McHale was released.

The story of Joe Exotic has become a hot commodity in Hollywood.

A limited series starring Kate McKinnon is in the works and 20th Century Pictures is reportedly planning a movie following the success of the documentary.
