Cape Town - A local choir from the rural parts of Limpopo recently moved America’s Got Talent (AGT) judges to tears and left audiences with goosebumps following their incredibly moving performance.

And now they’re set to rock the stage for the show’s live rounds.

The South African choir that got a standing ovation after their first performance in the US – that went viral – took to their Twitter page to announce the exciting news that they’ve made it through to the next round.

“Never in our most amazing dreams did we think this could happen, we are through to the @AGT live rounds!”

“We’re still blown away by the overwhelming response we’ve received from South African’s,” said choir director, Ralf Schmitt.

“This is our opportunity to showcase possible for young people despite your background. We are so happy and excited, we will continue to work hard through intense rehearsals.”

Schmitt also added that they’re thankful for the love they’ve received and will continue to represent millions of other South African’s.

The choir forms part of the top seven acts set to be part of AGT’s first live cuts, according to etonline.

Before hearing that they’ve gone through to the live rounds, the Mzansi choir performed a cover of the 2010 Fifa World Cup song, Waka Waka.

“What you represent is unity and collectiveness. Beautiful,” judge Julianne Hough said about the choir’s performance.

“If I could bottle it, I would drink it every day,” judge Simon Cowell tweeted.
