"It must be the eighth or ninth nomination. I am not sure" she jokes.
With three wins, remaining humble is important to her, she tells us.
This year she bagged the best supporting actress in a TV drama for her role as Nomonde in Mzansi Magic’s Ithemba, a character that was introduced as someone under the spell of a very manipulative and charming cult leader.
Nomonde is soft and down-to-earth, very different from the characters Brenda is well-known for.
"I have always played these loud characters that have demanded a lot of energy from me. But that was not the case with this one. I wanted to shift from that and show my versatility. In all my roles, I have always tried not to be the same," she says.
Brenda is looking forward to turning 40 in a few weeks and continuing to tell stories that need to be told, like the story of Nomonde that made us understand spirituality on a different level.
