Generations: The Legacy actor Nyaniso Dzedze and wife, Yana Seidl, were detained at OR Tambo International Airport amid fears of Covid-19 (coronavirus).

The pair were returning to the South Africa from Rwanda in the wake of travel bans announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, in an attempt to curb Covid-19.

"My wife is detained because she has a German passport. We were in Kigali, Rwanda, for about six days. A day before we flew back to the country, on March 18, the president announced that people who were from high-risk countries will not be allowed entry into the country. Yana and I had not been to any high-risk countries, so we flew back from Rwanda," he said.

Nyaniso accused the officials of not caring about the fact they were not in a high-risk area but wanted Yana to fly back to wherever.

He said he won’t leave his wife alone despite being allowed to enter the country because he’s South African.

Nyaniso told Move! that he’s not happy with the way the government is handling the situation and is not taking this well.

“I’m not OK with the way this has been handled. She’s been detained for three days and I can’t talk to her. We communicate via ACSA [Airports Company South Africa]. However, she’s physically well and I don’t even know when they will let her go,” he said.
