Cape Town - Local presenter and radio host, Masechaba Ndlovu is set to return to the radio waves after her departure from SABC’s Metro FM.
Speaking to DRUM, Masechaba confirmed that she will be joining the Drive Time (15:00 to 18:00) team on SAfm in August, which is Women’s Month – and she couldn’t be more excited.
“It’s so ironic actually, because I just passed the Metro FM studios now and waved at them as I’m speaking to you,” Masechaba said.
“I’m so humbled because for SAfm to give me the drive slot in one of the most important months of the year is a huge thing.
“What people might not know is that SAfm is the very first radio station in the history of South Africa, so this is really big for me. The first of August is also the station’s birthday, so the timing is just so Godly.”
Apart from the excitement, Masechaba is also keen to do some things differently.
“I care a lot about human interest stories, because that’s where we can learn from each other, so I’ve actually just walked out of a briefing and introductory meeting with the team, you know the producers and everyone, and one of the things we want to explore is extending a feature that focuses on the stories women,” she explained.
“The feature is currently running weekly, but for the month of August we want to do it every single day – just to share powerful stories of unsung heroines in various industries. I personally want to delve into their professional journeys but also their personal lives, because we’re dynamic, we’re not just brands. We’re mothers and humans, so that’s one thing people can expect,” she said.
