Singer Busisiwe "Cici" Twala is learning to love her body again – one day at a time.

She took to her Instagram page to show her fans the scars she got as a result of her alleged altercation with her ex Arthur Mafokate and how they’ve impacted her life.

Cici laid assault charges following an alleged violent dispute with then boyfriend Arthur Mafokate. In an emotional court testimony in March last year, Cici detailed how Arthur drove a distance of 300 metres while dragging her along the street when she tried to break up with him.

“For the longest time I’ve struggled with forgiveness because I had to wake up to these every morning and they served as constant reminder. I remember going on holiday and trying on a bikini. I took one look at myself in the mirror and just balled my eyes. I was filled with so much anger and hatred,” she shared.

Now, the muso made peace with the scars and is looking at them with a new perspective.

“Today I look at my scars and say I’m grateful for life and the courage and strength that God gave me to face each day with love in my heart,” she wrote.

It was alleged at the beginning of June 2017 that kwaito star and producer Arthur Mafokate assaulted his girlfriend, singer CiCi.

Arthur and CiCi break their silence

In his interview with Drum, Arthur said that he was not an abuser. Their case is still on going.

Cici previously shared pictures of her injuries but subsequently removed the pictures from her Instagram page before her court case began.

Cici's doctor, Dr Ramokgopa, from Waterfall Clinic testified recently testified that Cici underwent pelvic replacement surgery because of her injuries.

Update: Cici has since removed the images from her Instagram page.
