Mampintsha caused a stir and angered many people on Twitter after releasing a song inspired by his recent domestic violence incident with former girlfriend Babes Wodumo.
Mampintsha, whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo, is currently facing charges of assault against his ex-girlfriend Babes Wodumo, after she secretly put him on Instagram live while he allegedly assaulted her.
The title of his new song is “Khona ingane lay’ndlini” which means “there are children in the house”.
These lyrics are the infamous words Mampintsha was heard saying while beating Babes Wodumo in the assault video.
Many South Africans on social media have called out to mute the Kwaito musician’s music.
Local celebrities and politicians such as Mmusi Maimane, Prince Kaybee along with the EFF political party called on justice to be served on Mampintsha when the assault video went viral. They called Mampintsha’s actions “repulsive”’ and “disgusting”.
“The actions of Mampintsha are repulsive and disgusting. This happens before Friday the 8th of March where women around the world will be commemorating International Women’s Day which is a focal point for women’s rights. Women deserve to live full and healthy lives, free of all forms of violence against their bodies and emotions. We call on all South Africans to do a public arrest of Mandla Maphumulo when they see him and take him to a police station. This is so he can answer for his crimes of woman abuse. We send our solidarity to Bongekile Simelane and encourage all women who find themselves in the same situation never to be silenced or threatened, but to speak out against violence” the EFF wrote in a statement on their Twitter account.
However, his friends refuse to boycott his music and are supporting his new single.
In a since deleted video , music producer and hit song maker DJ Tira posted a video on Instagram, jamming with his wife and his dancer Slenda to Mampintsha’s new song and has received major backlash on social media.

Mampintsha was recently kicked out of Cubanna, in Pietermaritzburg by attendees due to the movement to boycott his music.
The attendees at this social cafe were heard chanting “khona ingane lay’ndlin” during the ordeal. He later apologised to all South Africans and to Babes Wodumo for assaulting her.
